On October 12, 2009, Mid-Ohio Foodbank began operating from their new location, a 204,000 sq. ft. facility in Grove City, Ohio. As the architects for the project, Rogers Krajnak Architects congratulates Matt Habash and the staff of Mid-Ohio Foodbank for achieving this milestone.

The project began with the analysis of Mid-Ohio Foodbank’s former facility and the master planning for expansion options. Due to the limitations of the existing building and site, the conclusion of the expansion study was to relocate the food bank. A 190,000 sq. ft. former mattress factory was selected as the new home for the food bank. Rogers Krajnak Architects analyzed the site and building and prepared design options for the renovation and internal expansion of the facility.

The goals for the $16 million project included celebrating the facility’s simple industrial aesthetic, featuring the activities of volunteers providing their service, providing multiple spaces for volunteer training, community meetings and special events, creating light-filled open office style work areas and achieving a LEED-NC Silver Certification as part of the United States Green Building Council.

More information on the Mid-Ohio Foodbank addition and renovation is available on the main project page of the website.
