GOODALE PARK GATE RESTORATION
Columbus, OH
<< Back to Project List
The Friends of Goodale Park and the City of Columbus Department of Recreation and Parks commissioned Rogers Krajnak Architects, Inc. to provide architectural services for the restoration of the historic South Gate at Goodale Park. The sandstone and wrought iron gates, originally constructed in 1870, had deteriorated from exposure to weather and vibration associated with the construction of the adjacent I-670 underpass. The project includes the realignment and repair of the existing stone columns; preparation for the installation of historic lantern replicas atop the columns; detachment of the decorative metal railings and gates from the existing stone columns to prevent future expansion cracks in the stone.
