Rogers Krajnak Architects conducted a design charrette with the faculty and staff of Marburn Academy in order to explore potential architectural design concepts for a new facility for Marburn Academy. A design charrette is an interactive design workshop that provides a venue for structured, meaningful, supportive discussion and the exploration of design ideas. By organizing and arranging program pieces (color coded paper cut outs that represent each space) the four teams of participants created four separate design concepts. Each team presented the highlights of their designs as the group reviewed all 16 design concepts.

Darryl Rogers recently lent his expertise to the Builders Exchange of Central Ohio as one of ten judges for the 2011 Builders Exchange of Central Ohio Craftsmanship Awards. The Craftsmanship awards recognize tradespeople who are key innovators and leaders in their fields, from electricians to masons. Winners are awarded based on “innovation, workmanship, and overall quality of the project.” Rogers Krajnak extends its congratulations to the 2011 Craftsmanship Award winners.

COSI has unveiled its new Innovation Showcase: Innovations in Energy, featuring The Mid-Ohio Foodbank, which was designed by Rogers Krajnak Architects. Many aspects of the sustainable design of the foodbank, which achieved LEED Gold, are presented in this interactive exhibit. The Innovation Showcase encourages critical thinking skills regarding energy use.

Rogers Krajnak Architects has been commissioned to renovate this home in Lancaster, Ohio which was originally designed in 1948 by architect Noverre Musson, an apprentice of Frank Lloyd Wright. The renovation will respect the Usonian architectural principles of the original design while updating the kitchen, study, living room, bedroom and bathrooms. New custom cabinetry, built-in light troughs and mid-century retro appliances will be skillfully integrated into the project.

Rogers Krajnak Architects welcomes Tim Shamblin to the firm.   Tim is a co-op student from the University of Cincinnati College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning. He is working toward a Bachelors of Science in Architecture with the long-term goal of obtaining a Masters in Architecture.   Tim is very passionate about building on his own skills and knowledge as he embraces the profession of architecture.  He handles a variety of marketing, project and organizational tasks within the firm. When not working, Tim can be found building something, whether it is computers, Lego models, or a good sandwich.

Rogers Krajnak Architects designed the eight new windows that were installed in the Chapel at Kobacker House, a newly constructed OhioHealth hospice. The inspiration for the windows is based on the strong connection that many Kobacker House staff and families have to the existing pear tree at the main entrance of the former Kobacker House. Rogers Krajnak Architects created the artwork for the colorful laminated glass panels that illustrate the beauty of the pear tree in all seasons.

The renovation of the Sanctuary has begun at The Church of the Epiphany in Washington DC. The organ pipes have been carefully removed in preparation the renovation of this historic church located two blocks east of the White House. The renovation is scheduled to be completed by Christmas.

Craig Vander Veen, Senior Project Manager at Rogers Krajnak Architects, has joined the Discovery District Development Corporation board of trustees as vice president. The Discovery District Development Corporation’s mission is to facilitate, enhance and promote the further development of the Discovery District through a proactive partnership of businesses, cultural and educational organizations, residents, religious institutions, and public officials

Charity earned a Masters degree in Architecture from the Ohio State University and has over four years of architectural experience. Charity will be working on a variety of projects for our residential, worship, education, health care, business and community clients.

Darryl G. Rogers, AIA, LEED AP is featured in the Winter/ Spring 2011 edition of the Columbus School for Girls Forte et Gratum entitled "A Passion for Architecture". Darryl offers his insight into sustainable thinking and design, his inspirations, his client-centered design solutions and his passion for architecture.

Temple Beth Shalom has commissioned Rogers Krajnak Architects to design a four to six classroom addition to the New Albany, Ohio synagogue. This project is the third time that Temple Beth Shalom has commissioned Rogers Krajnak Architects. Previous projects included a series of facility repairs and a comprehensive master plan for additions and renovations to the facility.

The University Architect at The Ohio State University selected Rogers Krajnak Architects to provide architectural services as part of the university's Central Power Plant Water Treatment project. Rogers Krajnak Architects role in the project will be to design aesthetic and building envelope improvements for the facility, which is located across the street from Ohio Stadium.

Lifeline of Ohio has commissioned Rogers Krajnak Architects to design the revisions to the existing Donor Memorial Wall which is located in the garden just north of Lifeline of Ohio's building, in preparation for Donate Life Month in April.

The First Presbyterian Church of Delaware, Ohio has commissioned Rogers Krajnak Architects, Inc. to provide a facility analysis, program, and conceptual design for the renovation and addition to this historic building.  The interior renovation will focus on the sanctuary and chancel, while the addition will provide new flexible space to be used for worship and social functions .

The October 1, 2010 issue of Business First highlights the sustainable design  process that Rogers Krajnak Architects led for Mid-Ohio Foodbank's new headquarters.  The 205,000 square foot renovated facility achieved LEED Gold as part of the U. S. Green Building Council's Leadership In Energy and Environmental Design program.

Community Hospital Health Services Foundation has commissioned Rogers Krajnak Architects, Inc. to provide design services for relocating historic artifacts from Mercy Hospital and Community Hospital to the new Springfield Regional Medical Center Pavilion.

Completed on schedule and in time for OSU vs. Marshall tailgaters to take over the parking lot, Rogers Krajnak Architects is wrapping up the project to replace hundreds of windows, doors and curtain wall of the OSU Agricultural Admin building. Go Bucks!

On July 19, Kai Raab, Assoc. AIA, LEED AP passed his seventh and final division of the NCARB Architects Registration Examination, allowing him to become a registered architect in the state of Ohio. Kai is now the fifth registered architect currently on staff at Rogers Krajnak Architects, Inc.

The Church of the Epiphany in Washington, D.C. commissioned Rogers Krajnak Architects, Inc. to proceed with the design for the renovation of the historic church located two blocks from the White House.  
Based on the 2007 Conceptual Design created by Rogers Krajnak Architects, Inc., the project will include the renovation of the Nave, Transepts, Chancel, Chapel, Parish Hall, Mission Center and Meeting Spaces; improved accessibility - including ramps and a new elevator in the Parish House; updated HVAC and electrical systems; and numerous miscellaneous repairs.

The Columbus Department of Recreation and Parks has selected Rogers Krajnak Architects, Inc. to provide professional services for the renovation of the Westgate Shelterhouse at Westgate Park.  Improvements will include improved site access; creation of a new prominent main entry; window and door replacement; updated HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems; and exterior repairs and painting.

OhioHealth has commissioned Rogers Krajnak Architects, Inc. to provide the conceptual design for the renovation of the chapel at Doctors Hospital.

RKA's renovation of an existing warehouse and distribution facility for the Mid-Ohio Foodbank exceeded the client's goal for Silver certification, and has been awarded LEED Gold by the Green Building Certification Institute.  Read More. 

In the May 2010 issue of Country Living Magazine, the official publication of Ohio Rural Electric Cooperatives, Darryl contributes his thoughts to the article "What's ahead for homes - How the recession will affect choices in homes." Darryl talks specifically about how sustainable design makes a house healthier, reduces its ecological impact, and reduces its energy consumption through the use of low VOC finishes, rapidly renewable and recycled materials, and controlled daylighting.

Darryl Rogers spent an afternoon with the Cassingham Elementary fourth graders discussing the process of starting a business and being an entrepreneur. Darryl's presentation included information to help the children understand the fundamentals of providing professional services, marketing and business development, and a review of Rogers Krajnak Architects' experience and process. The children asked excellent questions during the Q&A session that followed.

The Ohio State University has commissioned Rogers Krajnak Architects, Inc. to renovate the second floor and replace the windows of Stillman Hall which was originally constructed in 1937.  The second floor will be renovated to become the hub of College of Social Work research activities and include offices for faculty and project managers, conference space and group collaboration areas.
