Built in 1935, this distinctive Spanish Colonial Revival style home in Clintonville underwent a transformative exterior restoration led by Rogers Krajnak Architects. As the result of many poorly conceived modifications and repairs over the years, the existing low-pitch roof was failing and causing major water damage to the beautifully preserved interior of the home. The existing stucco, tile roofing and tile parapet copings were also in poor condition. The new membrane roof has an improved slope and drainage configuration, upgraded roof insulation/R-value, and state of the art, watertight flashing details. All of the tile roofing and tile parapet copings were replaced with new tile that matches the original. The existing stucco was sensitively patched and repaired, and replaced in some areas. After completing intensive material research and extensive documentation of the existing conditions, RKA created the design methodology, details and specifications that allowed the restoration contractor to successfully complete this challenging project.
