Rogers Krajnak Architects was commissioned to design a new front porch for this 1920's residence. The new porch replaces a crumbling concrete stoop and steps. The owner's goal was to liven up the front of their home and change the flat, imposing feel of the façade. The new porch design is simply detailed wood construction with proportions that relate to the existing residence. The new curved planter wall maintains an existing planting area and carries the line of the existing stone foundation wall on the house across the new porch. New concrete steps and sidewalk follow the curve of the planting wall as they connect to the new concrete driveway. The project is successful in giving a dynamic, new three dimensional feel to the front of this home.
