Atonement Lutheran Church

This project is the implementation of the initial phase of a master plan to expand and renovate the existing 15,600 square foot facility. Rogers Krajnak Architects, Inc. prepared a facility analysis, and worked with the church to develop a new master plan to meet the immediate need for expansion and provide a logical progression for future growth. The current project is focused on accommodating the growth of the church’s Nursery, Preschool and Worship programs within a tight project budget. Strategic limited renovations and a small addition will provide a great value in improving the flexibility and overall function of the facility.

Originally constructed in 1968, the building was subsequently expanded in 1988. The scope of the current project includes the reorganization/renovation of selected existing spaces and the construction of a 1,550 square foot addition. The project was designed to create a designated Preschool entrance that leads to two new Preschool Classrooms and a renovated Preschool classroom. These Preschool spaces are adjacent to the existing playground and proposed paved play areas.

Emphasizing the congregation’s goal of providing high quality child care during worship services and meetings, the Nursery will be accommodated in renovated space adjacent to the main entrance of the church. An ADA compliant family restroom will be created in renovated space adjacent to the existing restrooms.

Improvements to the Worship spaces include the replacement of a clear acrylic skylight with a diffusive, insulated skylight in the center of the Sanctuary ceiling. New choir chairs and custom designed movable storage cabinets will provide for flexibility in accommodating various activities within the existing Sanctuary.
